Heineken's Zywiec plans to increase its production capacity by the end Q1 next year.

The Polish brewer said this week that it plans to up its capacity to 14m hectolitres from the current 12.5m, since "constant sales growth is anticipated". The company will spend in the region of EUR15m on the expansion.

Zywiec CEO Chris Barrow said: "An investment process has been started to increase the production capacity. The total production capacity of the breweries will be 14m hectolitres by the end of the first quarter of 2008."

The Polish unit reported a 19% rise in consolidated net sales in the first half of this year, reaching PLN1.7bn  while volume reached 579m hectolitres, an increase of 14% over the corresponding period in 2006.

The group's consolidated operating profit increased by 58% to PLN317m, and consolidated net profit reached PLN244m, up by 69% compared with the same time last year.
