Heineken has added new designs and three additional locations to its limited-edition aluminium bottles roll out.

Earlier this year, the brewer unveiled colour-changing bottles at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami. The firm has lined up different aluminium bottles for Miami, New York, Los Angeles and Hawaii.

The packs, aimed at the on-premise, feature city-specific designs as well as the Heineken red star.

"We know that 66% of alcohol buyers pay attention to packaging and nearly the same amount pay attention to label design," said Raul Esquer Lopez, brand manager at Heineken USA.

Also this week, Heineken completed its EUR664m (US$744m) acquisition of Kirin's struggling Brazilian operations. The deal finalises an initial agreement between the two companies in February and gives Heineken control of the South American unit previously known as Schincariol. A Heineken spokesperson told just-drinks that the unit has been renamed Heineken Brasil.
