Heineken ups stake in Brasserie Nationale d'Haiti to 95%

Heineken has agreed to take almost complete ownership of Brasserie Nationale d'Haiti for an undisclosed fee.

Heineken said today (14 December) that it would raise its stake in Brasserie Nationale d'Haiti from 22.5% to 95%. As well as producing beer, the Haiti-based brewer also bottles soft drinks for PepsiCo

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

"The Haitian beer market has shown solid year-on-year growth, but remains relatively underdeveloped," said Heineken's president for the Americas, John Nicolson. "A growing population together with increased political and economic stability creates good prospects for continued growth."

Heineken said that it would acquire the extra shares from the Haiti brewer's existing management and unnamed private shareholders. The deal is expected to be earnings accretive to Heineken immediately following completion, which is expected in January.
