The brewer said today that the five-year 'exclusive premium beer' deal started on 1 March. The partnership also includes a Heineken-branded bar in the KLM Crown Lounge at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport.

The bar, which is scheduled to open this summer, will also serve alcohol-free Heineken 0.0 as well as the namesake beer and a selection from the company's international portfolio. Heineken 0.0 will also launch on-board KLM flights from October.

According to Heineken, the deal creates visibility for the Heineken brand "to a total of 86m global passengers per year" across both airlines.

Financial details behind the tie-up were not disclosed.

Air France-KLM is the result of a 2004 merger between the two airlines.
