US craft brewer Harpoon has launched a pineapple-flavoured wheat beer under its UFO brand.

The Boston, Massachusetts-based beer firm said the new permanent offering aims to give a year-round tropical aspect to its portfolio. The company is rolling out a prize draw alongside the launch that gives consumers the chance to win a trip to Hawaii.

All UFO beers are unfiltered (UFO stands for UnFiltered Offering), and the pineapple flavour joins other UFO beers including UFO White Ale, UFO Raspberry and UFO Hefeweizen. The UFO line is brewed by Harpoon in Boston, Massachusetts, and Windsor.

In 2014, Harpoon became an employee-owned company, with 48% of the firm's shares transferred to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
