Charlie Storey is stepping up from his marketing role

US craft brewer Harpoon has promoted its marketing head to the newly-created role of president.

Charlie Storey will continue to oversee the Boston, Massachusetts-based brewer's marketing department while assuming responsibility for the company's distribution, retail and festival businesses. Storey will also assist Harpoon co-founder and CEO Dan Kenary with company strategy and business development.

“I believe Harpoon, and the craft beer segment in general, has tremendous opportunity for growth and will continue to be a driver in how US consumers perceive beer,” Storey said.

In August, 48% of Harpoon’s shares were transferred to an employee stock ownership plan, a move overseen by Storey.

“I am especially excited to be in a leadership position at an employee-owned company. It is impressive what can happen when everyone works together towards a shared goal,” Storey added.

Harpoon brand manager Chris Bonacci, will step up to assistant VP of marketing. Both appointments are effective immediately, the company said.
