Harbin Brewery Group has posted a huge drop in H1 net profit. The brewer, currently in the process of being taken private by Anheuser-Busch, saw net profit for the six months to 30 June fall by 68% to HK$14.33m (US$1.84m) from HK$45.76m in the corresponding period last year.

Turnover for the Chinese brewer rose for the six-month period, however, hitting HK$780.03m from HK$658.19m last year.

No further details were immediately available.

Earlier this year, Anheuser-Busch bought control of Harbin for US$720m after a takeover battle with SABMiller.
