The deal, which starts on 1 July, hands Halewood control of Beluga's portfolio, including Beluga Noble, Transatlantic, Allure, Gold Line and Hunting. Financial details were not disclosed.

Commenting on the deal, Halewood CEO Stewart Hainsworth said: "Beluga has built a worldwide reputation for producing high quality vodka and for that reason it's an excellent extension of Halewood's existing range of innovative and artisanal spirits. We see tremendous opportunity to take the brand on to even greater success."

This month, SPI Group announced it had increased its stake in UK alcohol distributor Cellar Trends to 70% through Baltic subsidiary Amber Beverage Group. The move comes just over a year after ABG acquired a minority stake in Cellar Trends.
