UK brewer Greene King has announced details of an advertising campaign in the country for its namesake cask ale, Greene King IPA.

The company, which earlier this year posted a 5% dip in sales volumes for the 18 weeks to 5 September, said today that the push, entitled ‘Man Deserves a Proper Pint', launched in the UK last week. The GBP1m (US$1.6m) campaign “recognises that men feel they deserve to treat themselves for all the ‘arduous’ jobs they do at home”, Greene King said.

The ads will feature in national newspapers and men’s lifestyle magazines and will run for five months. An additional campaign will support the England Rugby team sponsorship during autumn internationals at Twickenham.

“The new campaign focuses on modern man and the high regard in which they view their efforts around the house,” said Dom South, marketing director at Greene King. “The campaign demonstrates why a pint of cask ale is a just reward for those everyday chores that men are never properly thanked for, the tasks that separate ‘proper’ men from men.”
