Winemaker Ron Goss has been appointed by 360 Global Wine Company to be director of winemaking at its Viansa Winery and Italian Marketplace business.

Prior to joining Viansa, Goss has served as premium winemaker at Foster's Wine Estates, and as an associate winemaker at Beringer's.

"Attracting a winemaker with the creativity, talent, and leadership that Ron brings to our company is exciting,"' said Jake Shapiro, CEO of 360 Global Wine Company. "Ron's background, managing and creating some of the most commercially successful wines in the United States, brings a skill set we are eager to incorporate."

Goss said: "I'm thrilled to be joining a winery that blends state-of-the-art California winemaking technology with classic Italian techniques, and which has a reputation for producing world-class Italian varietals and proprietary blends."

Late last week California-based 360 Global reported an operating loss of US$24.2m for the first six months of 2006, having boasted a first quarter gross profit of $1.9m, as its July 2005 purchase of Viansa took effect.

The company blamed the more recent nosedive on stock-based compensation, partly from the purchase of Viansa.
