PepsiCo is planning to start bottling Gatorade in India, according to local reports. Citing PepsiCo India president Rajeev Bakshi, Business Line said today (21 June) that the brand will be bottled at the company's plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.

"We had earlier wanted to begin manufacturing Gatorade from July but there has been a one-month delay," Bakshi told Business Line. "It will now begin from August in a small capacity at Aurangabad."

Gatorade, which is presently imported and sold through the existing distribution channel of Pepsi's Tropicana juice brand, will continue to be sold at gyms and health clubs, Bakshi told Business Line, but would not be mass-marketed at the present time.

Bakshi also said that PepsiCo India's bottled water and fruit juice business was growing at over 30% in volume terms so far this year.
