Grupo Fuertes has bought a majority stake in Spanish wine makers Bodegas Luzon. The Spanish holding company said today (23 December) that it had bought an 82% stake in the wine company.

Financial details were not disclosed.

In 2004, Bodegas Luzon hopes to make €12m in turnover. The company runs 500 hectares of vineyards and sells Monastrell, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlt and Syrah wine varieties.

Grupo Fuertes comprises 20 companies, mostly agriculture and food companies. In 2003, it posted a turnover of €733m (US$984.9m), a year-on-year increase of 25.4%.
