The MD of Foster's Group's Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) unit has resigned.

Alex Stevens, who only joined the company in February has left Foster's "due to ill health", the group said today (22 December).

Foster's CEO, Ian Johnston, said: "Whilst we are very sorry about this unexpected development, we respect and support this decision and sincerely wish him well for the future."

Johnston will act as the managing director of CUB, Foster's Australian beer, cider and spirits business which was formed ten months ago, until further notice.

Stevens joined Foster's from PepsiCo Australia and New Zealand where he had held the role of CEO.

"I thank Alex for his efforts, and confirm there is a strong CUB leadership team in place", Johnston concluded.
