The Australian beer and wine concern, Foster's Group Ltd, has announced the acquisition of the New Zealand wine producer, Ponder Estate Wines Ltd, for NZ$11.1m (US$5.45m). The prime aim of the acquisition of the Marlborough producer appears to be to provide fruit for the company's Matua Valley brand as the demand for New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc continues to grow.
