The recently-departed general manager for wine market development at Wine Australia, Paul Henry, has joined UK-based research group Wine Intelligence.

Henry will be an associate director of Wine Intelligence, effective immediately, the research group announced today (13 January). Henry left his post at Wine Australia in December after five years in the job.

Speculation about disagreements within Wine Australia and between its members swirled following the announcement that Henry would leave the trade body.

Lulie Halstead, chief executive of Wine Intelligence, said: “We are honoured that Paul Henry has chosen Wine Intelligence to be part of the next step in his career. His experience and abilities are exactly what’s required to tackle some of the major strategic issues our clients are facing."

Henry will be based in Adelaide, where he will continue to manage Winehero, the branding and marketing communications consultancy he founded.
