Camus has announced a change of global brand manager for its namesake Cognac range, with a former William Grant & Sons executive assuming the position.

The company said earlier today that Pier Paolo Catucci will head up the Camus brand world-wide. When contacted by just-drinks, a spokesperson for the group said Catucci, who starts in the role this month, replaces Jean de Tudert, who left last year to join the owner of the G'Vine gin brand, Maison Villevert.

Catucci moves across from Velier, an Italy-based spirits importer and distributor, where he was senior marketing officer. Prior to his time in the marketing role, he was brand manager for William Grant in Italy.

"Pier Paolo brings a strong background and understanding of the drink industry combined with a strong expertise as a brand builder in the premium spirits business," said group CMO Jean-Dominique Andreu. "His experience and vision will be valuable for Camus in the development of its own brand."

Cognac volumes are forecast to continue their recent growth, reaching more than 17m cases by 2021, according to research released earlier this year. The US and China are expected to lead the charge, supported by Russia and a number of other medium-weight and emerging markets, including South Africa, Canada, Indonesia, Nigeria and India.
