Wakefield Wines has recruited a European market manager

The family-owned Australian wine producer said late last week that Atkinson, who stepped down from his role as wine development director for Pernod in July last year, will become European market manager later this month. Atkinson spent nine years with Pernod, joining the group as in 2005 after its joint-acquisition of Allied Domecq with Beam in 2005.

Reporting in to export general manager Neil Hadley, Atkinson will be charged with managing the growth of Wakefield in the UK, working closely with import partner Louis Latour Agencies, and developing relationships with trade customers in Europe.

“With Adrian’s established credentials … we have a great opportunity to expand our growth in the region,” said Wakefield's MD, Mitchell Taylor.

Wakefield Wines was the first major Australian wine company to switch its entire range to screwcap closures ten years ago.
