SABMiller has appointed a capability director for its customer marketing

The former deputy MD of Pernod Ricard's UK division has joined SABMiller as the capability director for its customer marketing.

Simon Thomas, who quit Pernod at the end of June, has assumed the newly-created position at SABMiller's headquarters in London. He will be charged with “ensuring SABMiller has the capability in place across a number of areas from revenue management, customer marketing, shopper insight, building world class key account management, and differentiated customer propositions in fragmented trade channels”, the brewer said earlier today (5 July).

“Our ability to extract full value from our portfolios rests heavily on us building the art and science to manage an increasingly sophisticated ‘modern trade’ in some markets, and a highly complex and fragmented traditional trade in others,” said SABMiller's group marketing director, Nick Fell.

“Simon’s extensive experience of international drinks markets stands him in very good stead to make a considerable contribution to the development of our commercial capability agenda.”

Prior to his nine years with Pernod, Thomas worked for Diageo for 18 years.
