The death has been announced of John A. Murphy, former president of the Miller Brewing Company and the man credited with the transformation of the brewer, at the age of 71. Murphy had been president of the company at a time of considerable change when it began to advertise on sports broadcasts and produce different beers targeted at different consumers.
