Foley Family Wines will take control of the Acrobat brand from King Estate

Foley Family Wines has bought Oregon's Acrobat wine brand from King Estate Winery.

The deal, for an undisclosed amount, hands Foley control of a brand best known for producing Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris varietal wines. The two companies said earlier this week that the transaction is an important landmark in the growing Oregon wine industry.

"The addition of the Acrobat brand addresses the strategy of expanding our offerings from the emerging and rapidly-growing region of Oregon," said Foley Family president Hugh Reimers.

King Estate Winery, which is based in Oregon, said it decided to offload Acrobat to concentrate on its family brand, King Estate.

"King Estate needs to be the centrepiece of our future," said Ed King, CEO of King Estate. "Acrobat exceeded all expectations of success for us and really belongs in a growing family of brands like Foley Family Wines."

Last year, Foley took over the US distribution for French wine company Lucien Albrecht.
