Finnish customs has seized more illegal alcohol in the first six months of this year than the same period in 2003. Finnish news agency STT said yesterday that 60,000 litres of alcohol, mainly in the form of home-distilled moonshine, was seized between January and June.

The number of customs violations has decreased by around 30%, however, the news agency noted, meaning that fewer people are breaking the law but are getting caught with larger amounts.
