O’Rourke spent ten years at Diageo, most recently as innovations director

Fever-Tree has appointed Diageo's former innovation head to lead its own new products strategy.

The mixer and tonic company confirmed today that Alexandra O'Rourke will take on the newly-created role of innovation director. The role is the same one O'Rourke most recently held at Diageo, where she had spent the past decade working with brands including Johnnie Walker.

Fever-Tree said O'Rourke will focus on the company's innovation pipeline, working with customers and spirit brands on new initiatives. Earlier this year, the company boosted its portfolio with the launch of two new ginger ale variants designed for use with brown spirits.

Welcoming O'Rourke, Fever-Tree CEO Tim Warrillow said her "proven track record" in brand innovation was ideally suited to the company as it looked to continue increasing the size of its portfolio.

Fever-Tree is enjoying a prolonged period of growth, including four consecutive half-year periods of triple-digit profits growth. In H1 results released in July, Fever-Tree more than doubled net profits as sales jumped by 77%. The gains followed profits and sales leaps in FY 2016 and 2015 and continued a share spike for Fever-Tree that has seen its stock increase 11-fold since January 2015.
