Friends Fair Trade Norge (FFTN) has rolled out Ubuntu Cola in Norway, with the product becoming the first certified Fair Trade beverage brand to be launched in the country.

"Our initial marketing strategy is to develop a market for Ubuntu Cola in the greater Oslo area by growing distribution through small grocery chains and specialist food store chains," said FFTN's CEO Per Persson earlier this week. "Once we are happy with the product's market share here, we will move to roll out the cola across Norway."

Ubuntu Cola is produced from sugar bought from farmers in Malawi and Zambia. The cola has already been launched in other European markets, including the UK.

"We want to position Ubuntu Cola in Norway as a sparkling alternative to mainstream brands," Persson added.
