The wine fair left Olympia in 2002

This week's London Wine Fair saw an 11% jump in visitor numbers as it returned to central London.

The three-day wine exhibition, held in Kensington's Olympia, attracted 11,247 visitors, organisers said today (6 June). Exhibitor numbers were also up, by 50%, and organisers praised the new venue for adding to the show's atmosphere.

“People were much more energised about talking and selling,” event director Ross Carter said. “There was a real vibe of energy and passion for product and good old-fashioned selling.”

The fair left Olympia in 2001 for ExCel in London's Docklands, but came back this year.

In April, Carter said this year was “make or break” for the London Wine Fair.
