The Edrington Group has released a 1991 vintage The Macallan as part of its Fine & Rare collection of malts.

The 1991 was matured in an American oak puncheon, sherry-seasoned in Jerez, Spain. The 25-year-old whisky was bottled at natural cask strength.

"The Macallan Fine & Rare collection continues to charm collectors around the world and the demand grows with each new bottling," said Edrington's manager of brand education and Fine & Rare whiskies, Charlie Whitfield.

A spokesperson for Edrington's US unit told just-drinks there are 500 bottles in total, with six allocated to the US in this fiscal year.

The first Fine & Rare release was a 1926 vintage. The company put the collection up for sale for the first time in 2002.
