The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is lending US$32.5m to a subsidiary of Turkey's Anadolu Cam group to build a glass bottling plant near Ufa in central Russia.

Ruscam-Ufa LLC will use the loan to fund half the US$65m project. According to EBRD agribusiness director Hans Christian Jacobsen, the loan would improve the "quality of glass packaging offered to food and beverage producers in central and eastern Russia".

Part of the loan, US$16.25m, will be syndicated to ABN Amro Bank and investment bank CALYON.

Anadolu Cam is the largest producer of beverage and food containers in Turkey and a member of the leading Turkish industrial group Turkiye Sise ve Cam Fabrikalari AS.
