Royal Unibrew saw earnings leap during the first nine months of the year, boosted by its operations in Latvia and Poland.

The Danish brewer, formerly known as Bryggerigruppen, saw net profit leap 12% to DKK148.5m (US$23.3m) thanks mainly to rising sales and acquisitions in Eastern Europe.

The company pointed to the performance of Latvian soft drinks arm Cido and brewer Lacplesa Alus and said the bottom line was also boosted by Polish breweries Brok and Strzelec.

Royal Unibrew also managed to boost sales in western Europe, which rose 4%. Group turnover rose 13% to DKK2.4bn.
