Duvel Moortgat has launched another beer that has been aged in ex-spirit casks for its Duvel brand.

Barrel Aged Batch No 6 The Jamaican Rum Edition spent an unspecified amount of time in barrels sourced from Jamaica that formerly held rum. The lager will be available to purchase in the coming weeks from selected UK wholesalers such as Cambridge Wines and James Clay & Sons.

The release is the latest in Duvel’s barrel-aged series, joining expressions such as last year’s Batch no 4, which spent nine months in oak barrels from Heaven Hill, Woodford Reserve, Four Roses, George Dickel and Jack Daniel’s.

Duvel Moortgat also released another extension to its Duvel Distilled line of 40% abv beers this week. Duvel Distilled 2021 spent ten years maturing in oak ex-Bourbon and Sherry barrels before being finished for an unspecified period in Moscatel de Sétubal casks.

The beer, which is packaged in a special edition bottle marking the brand’s 150th anniversary, is the third ten-year beer from the brand and will be available exclusively from James Clay & Sons from next month at an SRP of GBP125 (US$171.48) per 70cl bottle.
