Duvel Moortgat has filed a complaint following allegations that it has channelled funds to a far-right political party. The Belgian brewer has also been accused of sympathising with Germany in the Second World War.

"We're apolitical," boss Michel Moortgat told La Libre Belgique after it reported that Duvel was challenging allegations that it is funding the anti-immigrant Flemish nationalist party Vlaams Belang.

Belgian law allows companies or individuals to file open-ended suits, charging the court with finding the culprit. In this case, the allegations have been circulated by an email.
