The company said yesterday that Bill Simon will join the Drizly board. Simon, who has also held positions at Diageo, PepsiCo and Cadbury-Schweppes, will "leverage his experience in retail and beverage alcohol", Drizly said.

"The management team at Drizly impressed me from our first meeting," said Simon. "They have a singular understanding of the traditional alcohol market and how emerging technology can help grow it for all of its stakeholders, from purchasers to suppliers to retailers."

Drizly is now present in around 70 North American cities. The firm's app allows for on-demand delivery or pick-up from retail partners. The app also features cocktail recipes and tips.

In August, a report from Drizly claimed that Millennial consumers in the country are shunning craft beer in favour of mainstream brands.
