Dr Sarah Jarvis has joined Drinkaware's Medical Advisory Panel in the UK to offer independent medical advice to the alcohol education charity.

Jarvis joins experts in mental health, oral cancer, liver, violence and facial injury on the panel, Drinkaware said today (26 September). The panel was set up in 2009 and is led by chief medical advisor and epidemiologist Paul Wallace.

Jarvis said: “In my general practice I often see the reality of what happens when people regularly drink too much, so I’m delighted to team-up with Drinkaware to provide consumers with the facts to make informed lifestyle choices.”

As well as making appearances on the BBC's One Show, Jarvis is a London GP, a fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners and clinical consultant to Patient.co.uk.

In July, Drinkaware announced that a former senior civil servant was to lead an independent audit to assess the effectiveness of  the industry-funded charity.
