Sri Lankan tea producer, Dilmah, which sponsors the Sri Lankan national cricket team, may not be able to have its name displayed on the players' shirts at games which are sponsored by PepsiCo which is to be a main sponsor of the 2003 Cricket World Cup.

Dilmah Tea signed a $3.3m three-year sponsorship deal last October - and has already paid 15% of that sum - but in February the International Cricket Council (ICC) told the Sri Lankan Cricket Board that the Sri Lankan players could not wear Dilmah-branded kit at matches sponsored by PepsiCo.

Dilmah is now awaiting a final ruling from the ICC on the issue. "We are actually a bystander in all this," said Dilmah director Malik Fernando. "We still don't know how this will turn out and it is really up to the cricket board to sort this out with the ICC." A decision is anticipated next month.
