The centre, to be built alongside Diageo's existing technical laboratory in Menstrie, Clackmannanshire, will upgrade the company's whisky blending, science & technology and materials testing teams. As well as housing labs for Diageo's science teams, the site will be an innovation hub for global brands such as Johnnie Walker, Ciroc, Smirnoff and Tanqueray.

Ewan Andrew, director of Diageo's International Supply Centre, said: "Our Technical Centre in Menstrie is a crucial part of our business globally, delivering excellence in science and innovation. This investment will create new state-of-the-art facilities for our talented team of whisky specialists and scientists to enhance the industry-leading work they do on growing and protecting our business around the world."

The new centre adds to Diageo's presence in Clackmannanshire. The county is already home to company's largest warehousing site as well as a cooperage, coppersmiths and global brand archive.
