The company said the blend - already available again in the UK, Australia, US and Mexico - will reach other global markets in the coming months. The goal is to relaunch Green Label in all of Diageo's markets.

Green Label was discontinued everywhere except Taiwan in 2012 when Diageo introduced Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve and Johnnie Walker Platinum Label. However, it was brought back last year in limited volumes in the US and Australia. A "fantastic reaction" from consumers prompted a re-introduction on a broader scale, Diageo said.

The company told just-drinks: "Johnnie Walker Green Label has always had a following and releasing limited volumes of it in the US and Australia this year to mark the tenth anniversary of its first introduction has revealed how much consumers have missed Johnnie Walker Green Label and want to see it back."

In the UK, Green Label retails for GBP40.39 (US$57) per 70cl bottle. In the Johnnie Walker portfolio, it is positioned between Johnnie Walker Double Black and Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve. It is a blend of Talisker, Linkwood, Cragganmore and Caol Ila whiskies matured for at least 15 years.

In January, Diageo said the relaunch of Johnnie Walker Green Label in Australia had helped push net sales for its reserve portfolio in Asia-Pacific up 15%.
