Diageo has appointed a new boss for its beer business in the US.

The UK drinks giant said today (8 September) that Jim Young will take the position of president, Diageo-Guinness USA next Friday (15 September).

Young replaces Dave Eickholt who has decided to retire at the end of the year after 28 years with the company.

"With more than twenty years experience in the beer, wine and spirits industry, Jim will further advance Diageo's business within the beer category," said Ivan Menezes, president and CEO of Diageo North America. "His knowledge and expertise coupled with his leadership experience make him a tremendous asset to the company."

Young initially joined Diageo during the Seagram acquisition in 2002. He has since held senior commercial, finance and general management positions within Diageo GB, in its venture markets and in the Nordics, where he served as managing director.
