Diageo Australia's previous commercial director left to join Campari

Tamke has been acting in the role since late-September, following David Halliday's departure from the division. Halliday left the company to join Gruppo Campari, where he now heads up operations in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

Tamke has been working for Diageo since 2012.

Diageo Australia MD David Smith said: "In the short time I've worked with Simon, he has shown himself to be a results driven leader with strong cross functional experience across sales, finance and supply. Simon's great strength is his ability to leverage his broad understanding of the business with his strategic thinking capability and excellent relationships to achieve positive results for the business."

Prior to joining Diageo, Tamke held a number of sales, finance and procurement roles with companies such as George Weston Foods, Campbell Arnotts and Lion Nathan.
