Delegat's Group has posted a healthy lift in figures for its fiscal year.

The New Zealand wine company said late last week that net profit for the year to the end of June leapt by 106% on the corresponding period a year earlier, hitting NZ$43m (US$30.2m). Sales for the year performed similarly, up by 56% to NZ$133.1m.

In volume terms, sales in the 12-month period reached 1.24m cases, an increase on 2005-2006 of 53%. Export sales rose by 58% year-on-year, beating a New Zealand wine industry average of 28%.

The group accounted for a 12.7% share of wine exports from New Zealand in the year, up from 10.3% a year earlier.

"The group is very well positioned to continue to profit from strong global demand for our super-premium wine," said company managing director Jim Delegat. "Continued investment in our brands, supply capability, distribution channels and in-market sales offices will support substantial future sales growth."
