Romania's Cramele Recas is eyeing the premium wine segment with the launch of a new brand.

The Solevari wine brand launched with a Pinot Noir and a Syrah. The company plans to make the Romanian indigenous style of Feteasca Neagra under the label "in the near future".

"The Solevari label reflects the first step in a new direction for Cramele Recas of selling more value added, premium wine around the world, spearheaded by the British owner, Philip Cox," the company said.

Solevari is distributed through Virgin Wine UK and online at Alliance wines.

At the same time as the release, Cramele Recas reported a 56% rise in value, thanks to growth in several of its key markets including Germany, UK, Netherlands, US and Russia. The company also plans to invest EUR4m (US$4.55m) in expanding the winery next year.
