Courvoisier Cognac is to join the Maxxium Worldwide distribution stable in Russia, according to local reports.

Novecon reported on Monday (13 March) that Beam Global Spirits and Wine is to transfer the exclusive distribution rights for Courvoisier to the Russian unit of Maxxium from the end of this month.

No-one was available at Maxxium Worldwide in Russia to confirm the report when contacted by just-drinks today (15 March).

In January, Fortune Brands announced a makeover of its drinks business, renaming it Beam Global Spirits and Wine, following its acquisition of a raft of wine and spirits brands from Allied Domecq last year.

Maxxium, equally controlled by Rémy Cointreau, The Edrington Group, V&S Group and Beam Global Spirits and Wine, merged the brands Beam gained from the Allied acquisition in September. The four partners agreed at the time not to distribute Courvoisier, with Beam making separate arrangements. Rémy Cointreau produces Courvoisier rival Rémy Martin.
