Coors' chief marketing officer is to step down. The brewer announced today (1 December) that Ron Askew, who has held the position since 2001, will leave on 14 December.

"Ron has achieved a great deal in the three years he was here at Coors, including developing our marketing team, and moving our advertising and marketing programs in the right direction," said Leo Kiely, president and CEO of Coors Brewing Company. "I will miss Ron's enthusiasm and commitment, and wish him well."

In addition to leading strategic initiatives for Coors' marketing and advertising programs, Askew was instrumental in developing new messaging for the Coors Light brand.

Prior to joining Coors in 2001, Askew was CEO of the Integer Group, a Lakewood, Colo. marketing services business he founded in 1993 and that has handled much of Coors' marketing and promotional work for the past 11 years.

A search is underway for Askew's replacement.
