Coopers Brewery has begun the installation of a new bottling plant. The A$3.6m (US$2.78m) facility will help the Australian brewer cope with domestic demand.

Production for Coopers will subsequently increase from 840 bottles a minute to around 1,000.

The new plant forms part of the company's A$7m capital works expansion.

Separately, the brewer has posted a 17.8% rise in sales for the first six months of 2005. At the beginning of this year, the family company said that it had control of 15% of Australia's premium beer market.
