The European arm of Constellation Brands has readied a consumer competition in time for Christmas for its Stone's Original green ginger wine brand in the UK.

Constellation Europe said today (28 October) that the campaign will focus on "the unique 'Britishness'" of the brand. Staring this month, a competition will run offering one consumer a prize of choosing how to spend GBP5,000 (US$8,170) on a UK getaway. The promotion will run nationally across multiple grocers, specialist and convenience outlets.

The promotion also offers 200 runner-up prizes of Stone's picnic blankets. Consumers will be able to enter the competition via www.stonesgingerwine.com/britishgetaway or through an application form on the collar.

The promotional neck collar also includes four seasonal drink suggestions.

"Stone's has a strong association with the festive period," said Clare Griffiths, VP of European consumer marketing for Constellation Europe. "Last year, sales in the 13 weeks leading up to Christmas were up 129% compared with the rest of the year."
