Cono Sur has lined up the purchase of two new vineyards. The Chilean winemaker, a unit of the country's largest wine producer Concha y Toro, has bought a 200-hectare vineyard in Peralillo, and a 160-hectare site in the San Antonio Valley.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Cono Sur is aiming to increase its grape output and reduce production costs through the purchases, the company said yesterday (21 December).

The winemaker has forecast a 20% year-on-year rise in turnover for 2005 to around US$2m, while exports should reach about 2m wine boxes.
