Vina Concha y Toro has secured a national distribution deal in its home market of Chile with Diageo's unit in the country, according to local reports.

Concha y Toro's distribution subsidiary in Chile, Comercial Peumo, will handle Diageo's products in the country's wholesale markets from the beginning of next month, local papers reported earlier this week.

Diageo Chile will continue to distribute to the country's three major supermarket chains run by Cencosud, D&S and Unimarc, Concha y Toro told local press.

Financial details behind the tie-up were not disclosed.

"In recent years, Comercial Peumo has developed a new area of business which includes the commercialization of beer and premium liquor," Concha y Toro was reported as saying. "It is precisely this new area of business which this distribution deal aims to reinforce."

No-one at Diageo was immediately available to clarify the reports as just-drinks went to press today (19 March).
