Coca-Cola Amatil's attempt to acquire the home and office water business Neverfail Springwater was given a boost yesterday when the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said it will not oppose the proposed acquisition.

The ACCC said that the absence of any market overlap between the firms in relation to direct delivered bulk bottled water would mean the acquisition would not substantially lessen competition.

It said Neverfail accounts for only a small percentage of the national wholesale water market, with a number of alternative suppliers remaining.
