Coca-Cola is to launch a new mineral water in France, according to press reports. Le Journal du Dimanche said yesterday (20 February) that the company will release Chaudfontaine on the French market in March. The newspaper also said that Coke plans to release a high-energy drink similar to Red Bull in France.

Last year, Coke abandoned a Europe-wide launch of its Dasani bottled water brand after it had to withdraw the product from the UK when it failed to meet quality standards.

According to the newspaper, the Chaudfontaine water, named after the Belgian spring from which the water will be drawn, was to have been used in the Dasani launch.

Le Journal also said that Coke is looking at launching an energy drink in France, targeted at clubbers. "Le Burn, a drink to be mixed with vodka, will be high in caffeine," the paper said. No release date was mentioned for the drink.
Red Bull is banned in France.
