Coca-Cola has announced plans to team up with Musicmatch in the US. The soft drinks giant revealed yesterday that it plans to promote its Sprite brand through the online music company.

The announcement comes just days before Pepsico's promotion with Apple's iTunes kicks off.
Specific details have not been released, but Coke hopes to link Musicmatch with millions of Sprite drinkers.

Earlier this month, Coke launched an Internet music download service in Britain with a view to selling music downloads from a catalogue of 250,000 songs supplied by the five big music labels.

Musicmatch said it is currently selling more than one million downloads per month through its pay-as-you-download service, launched in September last year, which offers songs at 99 cents apiece.
