The Coca-Cola Co's India unit has launched a premium extension under its Maaza mango juice brand. Maaza Gold is described by the firm as "thicker and smoother".

According to Coca-Cola India, the launch of Maaza Gold will accelerate Maaza's journey towards becoming a billion dollar brand by 2023. The company set out the goal last year, in a move to support mango farmers and boost sales.

Maaza Gold will roll out in one-litre Tetra Paks via modern retail outlets, grocery stores and online shops.

"We are always listening to our consumers and with the launch of Maaza Gold the company is expanding its product portfolio in-line with consumer tastes," said Srideep Kesavan, director marketing – juices, Coca-Cola India & South West Asia. "The company at the same time is also accelerating Maaza's journey towards becoming a homegrown billion dollar brand by 2023."
