Icelandic Glacial will be handled in Iceland by Coca-Cola European Partners

Coca-Cola European Partners has agreed to distribute Icelandic Water Holdings' Icelandic Glacial spring water in its home market.

The Icelandic company said yesterday that it has partnered with CCEP to expand the footprint of its portfolio domestically. The naturally alkaline spring water is sourced and bottled at Iceland's Ölfus Spring.

"We've made significant efforts to grow the Icelandic Glacial brand globally and are pleased to now be able to expand our reach at our home base," said Icelandic Glacial chairman & co-founder, Jon Olafsson.

CCEP's country director for Iceland, Carlos Cruz, said the addition of the water to its portfolio would appeal to the "growing number of tourists" in the country.

"We see a huge opportunity to add premium spring water to our portfolio to better serve our customers and be better equipped to offer solutions to consumers, especially in HORECA and tourist outlets," said Cruz.

The brand is currently available in 24 countries. It was not immediately clear if CCEP is replacing an existing distributor.
