CCE first announced the line in March

Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) has confirmed it will open a new bottle production line at its main UK production site in September.

The bottler said today (23 June) the line, at CCE's Wakefield facility, will manufacture the contour PET Coca-Cola bottle at speeds of up to 40,000 an hour. CCE is spending GBP13m (US$22m) on the equipment, part of a GBP52m investment across 2014 that was unveiled earlier in the year.

Commenting on the GBP100m invested in the Wakefield site in the past five years, CCE chief executive John Brock said: “These actions are a critical part of our long-term strategy to continue to grow our business sustainably and make a positive contribution to the British economy.”

The new line was first announced in March, along with other projects at the Wakefield site such as combined heat and power systems.
